My August Favorites

Hey guys! Hope you are having a great week. This time I thought of sharing the list of products that I have loved during August.

Can you guys believe that August is almost over? It’s like the year 2017 had wings.

Anyways, I won’t talk more and straightaway get to the list of products that I have been loving this month.

Toni&Guy Damage Repair Mask – INR 1400 for 200ml

Toni&Guy Damage Repair Mask

Toni&Guy Damage Repair Mask

I have been loving this product for one reason – it delivers to what it promises. The mask is extremely hydrating and works wonderfully well on damaged, dull and dry hair.

The product comes in a pot that contains 200 ml of the product. The texture of the mask is creamy and white in color. It has a very mild pleasant fragrance that isn’t overpowering.

Application is fairly simple. A small scoop has to be applied on your hair after washing it with shampoo. Keep it for about 3-5 minutes and then rinse it off with water.

I ordered this mask as I wanted to try other products from Toni&Guy after the success rate of the shampoo and conditioner I ordered from this brand. I have reviewed both the products in my blogpost “My Monsoon hair care routine”. Check that out if you haven’t already.

I had a great experience and I highly recommend this product to people with damaged hair. It’s like a mini hair spa at your own home with similar results.

The only issue that I have is with the packaging as it isn’t quick travel friendly. Otherwise no complaints.

Pros –

  • Excellent product that conditions dull and damaged hair
  • Pleasant fragrance

Cons –

  • Contains chemicals hence not a product for people who prefer natural ingredients
  • Not a travel friendly packaging

Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash – INR 549 for 175ml

Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash

Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash

One of my current favorites and I absolutely loved how it changed my perspective towards facial cleansers.

I have tried many facial cleansers and this is like extremely mild on the skin. To be honest I didn’t think of it when I picked it up. I thought it would be another medical face wash that would have some weird smell.

This facial cleanser comes in a pump bottle and the solution is transparent with golden/light brown in color. One pump is enough for one wash.

The solution has a mild but pleasant fragrance. One of the first medicated facial washes that has a pleasant fragrance to be honest.

It is extremely mild on the face and doesn’t strip away the oils. My skin feels refreshed and hydrated after the wash. Seriously this one is added in my favorites list and I will definitely repurchase it.

This product contains salicylic acid that targets the acne prone skin. However it can be used by any skin type. I have my sister that has combination skin and she loves it.

Anyone out there struggling with acne and looking for the right face wash, please give this a try.

Pros –

  • Mild on the face, great for oily skin type
  • Doesn’t strip away the moisture of the skin, letting the skin feel hydrated after the wash
  • Mild and pleasant fragrance
  • Hassle free pump bottle packaging, with no twisting caps on bottle or squeeze tube that leads to the wastage of the product

Cons –

  • Slightly expensive facial cleanser when compared with other drugstore brands

Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture – INR 349 for 118ml

Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture

I was looking for a mild moisturizer that doesn’t break me out (considering I have an acne prone skin). I ordered this moisturizer along with the facial wash after reading the heading “Oil Free Moisture”.

The one I got was for combination skin and that doesn’t have SPF. Though they have another product with SPF 15. Recommended for people who don’t want to use sunscreen on top, can pick this one.

The solution is white in color and comes in a pump bottle (I simply love pump bottle packaging..yay!!). There is a twist cap to lock the pump so that the product doesn’t spill by accident. The bottle holds around 118 ml of the product.

Great thing about this moisturizer is that it doesn’t clog pores. It is alcohol and fragrance free and allergy tested. Great for people who are picky or sensitive towards fragrance.

When I applied the moisturizer for the first time, I didn’t find it lightweight. It was in liquid form but felt little rich on the face. However few minutes after the application, that heaviness goes away and it absorbs like water. Strange!

With it’s application, I have not had acne so thumbs up there.

The product specializes in controlling shine in oily areas of the skin. Honestly I could see that while applying it. I don’t feel that oily, heavy feeling on my skin and neither it appears to the other person.

Pros –

  • Moisturizer for people dealing with acne, seriously this stuff is great
  • Doesn’t clog pores, no fragrance and allergy tested
  • Great packaging, light weight bottle that is travel friendly and strategically designed to avoid wastage
  • One pump is enough for the face, that means a little goes a long way

Cons –

  • Little disappointing for people looking for SPF in their moisturizer. SPF 15 is the highest you get with this product which isn’t enough in hot summers

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate – INR 1995 for 10ml

The last product that I loved in August was the eye cream from “The Body Shop Drops of Youth” range.

Before I start to talk about the details, I want to specify that I am very picky about my eye creams. I don’t like doing a lot of experiments with eye creams and I tend to stick to one (if I like that one).

But this time I thought otherwise and bought Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate. This range from The Body Shop is quite well known so I thought of giving it a try.

First of all it comes in a great packaging that I often fail to see in other brands. A perfect roll on applicator that can be directly applied onto eyes, quite hygienic. Most eye creams are packaged in pot, tube etc that doesn’t impress me at all.

Product is dispensed at the end of the roll on applicator which can be directly applied to the eyes that gives a cooling effect. I really like applying eye cream with the roll on applicator honestly.

The texture is slightly different as it is between gel and lotion. The prominent ingredient mentioned for this product is plant stem cells that helps in renewing cells.

I don’t know much about the plant stem cells but I do know that this product works.

Honestly I have seen great result from this product.

My first application experience – I applied in the night and the next morning I wake up with bright and firm skin around my eyes. I have seen results from my other favorite eye creams but not so fast.

I would highly recommend this product to people who suffer from puffy eyes and dullness around the eyes. I asked my sister to try this product, who by the way is extremely finicky about eye creams as well and she liked it too.

Pros –

  • Great packaging and application is easier with roll on applicator, travel friendly as well
  • Effective product, leads to brightening and recharging the skin around the eyes

Cons –

  • I have not seen any difference in my dark circles, therefore wouldn’t help people who are looking to heal dark circles

That’s it guys! I hope you enjoy my August favorites post. I loved sharing it with you all. Leave your comments below if you have tried any of these products and have different point of view.

Till I come back with some other post.
